Against the Tides

---

Dr. Evelyn Owusu began her education at the Morning Star school where she discovered a talent for writing and penned her first novel, Breath of Fate. After graduating from Achimota Secondary School, her first novel was published and its success led her to pursue an English degree at the University of Ghana, Legon. While studying for her bachelors, Dr. Owusu fell in love with Psychology and ended up graduating with a degree in English and Psychology. Her final project was approved by the late Prof. Kofi Awoonor for publication and soon after the launch of Against the Tides, she left for the United States to pursue a doctorate in Clinical Psychology.

Prior to her departure for the United States, Dr. Owusu completed her national service as a teaching assistant at the English Department, University of Ghana Legon. On weekends, she would intern at the Progressive Life Center, a mental health clinic in Accra, where she first learnt about psychological treatment and assessment in Ghana.

While at the University of Denver, Colorado, Dr. Owusu earned three consecutive inclusive excellence fellowships in addition to the scholarship that was awarded to her by her graduate program. She was on the executive board of the Black Graduate Students Association, and together with two other class cohorts advocated for a Suicide Prevention elective course which was accepted and put into place. Prior to her graduation, Dr. Owusu was privileged to work with a diverse range of clients of all age groups who presented with a wide variety of mental health issues in various clinical settings. She is well-trained in the use of psychological assessment and has conducted individual, couples and group therapy. Dr. Owusu joined the faculty of Regent University College of Science and Technology in October 2015 to impart her experience and gifting granted her by her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
