Women, Peace and Security: Lessons in Domesticating UN Resolution 1325 in Africa
Women play an important role in peace building givennthe fact that during conflicts, women face gross violation of their human rights, particularly gender based violence such as gang rape, sexual slavery and torture. This issue of Leaders examines country experiences around the implementation of the United Nations Security Council Resolution 1325 that was adopted in 2000 with an aim of fulfilling the commitments of the Beijing platform for Action on women in decision-making and peace building.
