War in Uganda: Voices of Women

Uganda Media Women’s Association undertook a study on women’s experiences during war and documented these findings in order to make people aware of what women have to endure during war. This is intended to act as a base to lobby for a peaceful end to conflicts.

Human rights are guaranteed by international covenants and the Uganda Constitution but human rights abuses in war situations, especially against women, go unnoticed by those not directly involved in the war.

The chapters cover the impact of war on women; how women cope in war situations including the agony of displacement and life in a displacement camp as well as women’s unrecognised contributions in times of conflict.
