This publication is intended to make a modest contribution to the development debate by providing a brief overview of women's concerns in the areas of human settlements decision-making, employment in the human settlements sector and property rights. These are important issues in the context of the Global Strategy for Shelter to the year 2000 which aims at facilitating access for all to adequate shelter, but with particular emphasis on the participation of the poor and disadvantaged, amongst whom women represent a substantial majority.
