Aid Effectiveness and Gender Equality in Ghana 2004-2006

Please include a summary of key activities, outputs and results achieved during the reporting period. Analyse the country and regional context, which the project takes place in. Ghana is in West Africa; a region which in recent years has been plagued by conflicts. Ghana has however been viewed as being relatively peaceful; nonetheless, there have been skirmishes in different areas especially in the Northern part of the country. These problems tend to emanate from chieftancy disputes and are seen as having a more adverse effect on women than on men. However, women have not been seen to be actively involved in peace processes. In the main, the project has been working within the Government, the UN Country Team, bi-lateral donors and civil society to make gender central to aid effectiveness. The project’s main partner is the Ministry of Women and Children’s Affairs, which was set-up
